Preparation for your first class
Arrival - Please arrive early. Arriving late or leaving early disrupts the ambience in the class. If you must arrive late, respect the ambience and enter discretely unrolling your yoga mat quietly. Same if leaving early.
Equipment - If you do not have your own yoga mat, we provide one for your first class. If you decide that you wish to continue the course, it is best to have your own mat for hygiene purposes and for your own home practice. If you have discomfort sitting on the floor in a cross-legged position, bring a cushion, especially if you are in a meditation class.
Clothing - Leave your shoes outside the room. Wear clothing like a jogging outfit so that you can stretch the body comfortably. Have a pair of socks and light sweater or blanket for the relaxation at the end of class. You could also use the sweater or blanket to sit on instead of a cushion if needed.
Water - Some people bring water to class. Generally, drinking cools the body while we are trying to heat it up and can cause stomach discomfort. Come already hydrated. Of course, if you absolutely need to, take a small sip.
Food - Usually yoga is practiced first thing in the morning, but in our society, most classes are at night after work. If you practice yoga on a full stomach, you might experience cramps or nausea, especially in twists, forward bends, and inversions. Digesting food also takes energy that can make you lethargic. Best is to abstain from eating 2-3 hours before class. If you need to eat something, make it light.
Injuries & Health Conditions - Let your teacher know about injuries or health conditions (high blood pressure, suspected or early pregnancy, etc.) that might affect your practice. If you are injured or tired, skip poses you cannot or should not do, or try a modified version. For women, if it is the first day of menstration or if you have a heavy menstration, avoid inverted postures. You should ALWAYS be comfortable in yoga. Do not push your limits. Instead of going as deeply or completely into a pose as others might be able to do, do what you can without straining or injuring yourself. You'll go farther faster if you take a loving attitude toward yourself and work from where you are, not from where you think you should be.
With a friend? - If you come to class with a friend, spouse, or child, practicing side-by-side may be distracting from focusing within yourself. However, if you do, please don't talk during class.
Perfume & Cigarettes - Please avoid wearing perfume. Similarly, if you are a smoker, please do not smoke just before or just outside the class.
Cell phones - Please turn off your cell phone! The ringing of a cell phone disturbs the ambience of the class which is important to induce a tranquil state of mind. The sudden ringing or even silent mode vibration can trigger the release of adrenaline which affects the heartbeat and breathing. While we can't control the environment entirely, it is best to create the optimum situation where possible. If you forget and your cell phone goes off, immediately come out of your yoga posture and quietly go to it and turn it off. Do NOT take the call as some have! If there is an emergency that requires it to be on during class, please inform the teacher beforehand, but be prepared to turn it off during the final relaxation period of 10 minutes.
Payment Procedures
If you are a returning student, please make a bank transfer for the full term amount immediately upon enrollment and then send us an e-mail (info @ yoga.lu) informing us that it has been done. You don't need to attach proof of payment. Without advance payment, we cannot guarantee your space.
If you are a new student, please make a bank transfer for the term price that we will quote to you upon your enrollment to guarantee your place and then send us confirmation by e-mail (info @ yoga.lu) that payment has been done. You don't need to attach proof of payment. See cancellation policy below.
Cancellation policy: Once you've taken your first class, if you do not wish to continue, send an e-mail with your bank details, and we will reimburse you the full amount of what you have paid less 15 € for the first class taken. However, if you miss classes between the time of your enrollment and your first class, 15 € will be deducted for each class up until your cancellation. If you cancel less than 24 hours before your class, the cost of that class will also be deducted. No refunds will be made for cancellations after the second class you attend.
As 80-90% of new participants choose to continue and all classes are usually full with wait lists, this procedure of paying in full before the first class (1) saves a lot of administration time, (2) allows that new students can opt out after one class with a proper refund, and (3) ensures that students on the wait lists can get in as early as possible without places remaining empty since we often are not informed whether the reason new students who have had a first class but don't show up for their second class is work-related, health-related or due to dropping out.

Make-up classes - If you are a term student, understand that you have paid a reduced rate equivalent to receiving approximately 3 "free" classes. You also are guaranteed a space in your chosen class each week. However, should you miss a class, we offer the possibility but not the right to make up your missed class by attending another class within the term depending on space availability and at our sole discretion. Please call us on the day of the make-up class that you wish to take to ensure that there is space available. If you miss your last class of the term, there will be no possibility to make up that class.
Thanks for your understanding.
