Ashtanga Yoga: physical to metaphysical
Friday 10 june 19:00 - 21:00
Saturday 11 june 09:00 - 16:30
Sunday 12 june 09:00 - 16:30

taught by Arnaud Kancel
This program will be taught in English.
Theme
A practice of introspection, Yoga is sometimes confused with its technical form. The Ashtanga Yoga is a very energizing practice. The conscious dimension is not always present and depends on both the type of teaching that the student has received as well as the student’s temperament. Some approaches reinforce the ego, and others favor an attention to an inner state.
During this workshop, we will study the psycho-physical dimension of posture and movement. The proposal is to understand the true meaning of the practice and to go beyond its apparent physical aspect toward an interior research.
Open to beginners to advanced

Style: Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga vinyasa is a hatha yoga practice transmitted to Pattabhi Jois from the great yoga master Krishnamacharya. It is for students seeking an invigorating approach that purifies, stimulates and energizes. It consists of postures practiced in a fluid rhythm with a concentrated breath, steady gaze, and internal contractions to direct vital energy. Due to the dynamic nature of this practice, one feels completely energized and purified in each cell of the body and also in the mind. Go to the Ashtanga yoga page.

Arnaud discovered Ashtanga yoga in Dharamsala, India and later returned to Mysore to study with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. In 2003, he founded the Arjuna Shala in Montpellier and leads courses in various cities in France and abroad (India, Peru, Greece, Czech Republic, etc.). In 2012, he created Ashtanga Sadhana teacher training school. His teaching approach combines bio-mechanics and the aspect of energy in an attempt to create unity of body, breath and consciousness.
