Yoga for Staying Young

Saturday 16 september 10:00 - 11:30

In this 90-minute "Yoga for Staying Young" class, we start with guided meditation and breathing techniques followed by the warming up of the joints. Then, through slow-paced, measured movements and holding poses, we improve (1) range-of-motion in the joints, (2) density of bone and muscle tissue, and (3) cardiovascular strength without strain. The sequence is not driven by “perfect” poses but more open to exploring breath work and meditation.

The teacher Diana Zagorskaya says:

I know that some of you have never stepped on a mat in your life. I also know that some of you have been practicing yoga for a lifetime. There is one thing about the practice: Yoga meets you where you are! I want to encourage you to practice whether you are 55, 65, 75. If you are older and wiser, I bow to your knowledge. We want our 60s, 70s and 80s to be as dynamic as possible. My most profound conviction is that we are in this together—all generations—determined to discover how to live the most nourishing relationship with our body, mind and spirit.
