Viniyoga class - Pranayama Practice

Wednesday 04 june 10:45 - 12:00

Nadine Maes is giving four 75-minute Viniyoga classes over four consecutive Saturdays (May 24 - June 14) to introduce students to this practice that comes through the lineage of Krishnamacharya. All four classes include either dynamic or calming postures with an emphasis on a particular theme.

The third Saturday on June 7th, 10:45-12:00, Nadine will teach Pranayama Practice which involves a variety of breathing exercises along with a simple hatha yoga sequence. Breathing is an involuntary act, and it is an essential part of life. Although we cannot control whether or not to breathe, we can control the way to breathe. A belief that different methods of breath affect the body’s health’s and life force is the core of Pranayama practice. In addition to deepening your yoga practice, learning ways to calm or invigorate the body through breathing will greatly benefit your life off the mat.

Style: Viniyoga

What characterises Viniyoga is the connection between the breath and the movement. This synchronization enables the practitioner to cultivate a long and deep breathing rhythm which has a calming effect on the mind and leads to peace and serenity in daily life. With the help of different techniques, the attention is continually directed to this connection, while keeping the sequence of movements easy. As a consequence, everyone can practice Viniyoga independent of age, physical condition, or the time dedicated to the practice. Go to the Viniyoga page.
