Yoga La Source

Inner and Outer Asana Journey

starts Thursday 23 march 2017 at 15:00

This program is taught in English

This series of workshops focus on Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga through the key principles underlying this method of yoga practice. We will look at the role of traditional vinyasa count, bandha, breath, and drishti in more detail. We will then link these elements together to explore the unity of inner and outer, gross and subtle, in the flow of asanas.

While Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is frequently perceived as physically very challenging, Marija and Ena will help students introduce softness in the practice. They will work on developing the awareness of foundation and the flow of breath in order to help students develop inner stillness, deep presence, and greater awareness of prana throughout the practice.

The workshops are conceived to provide students with the tools to deepen their practice through inner exploration and thus open the space for the development of self-practice.

It is recommended that students are familiar with at least first half of the Ashtanga Vinyasa primary series or that they have attended at least one term Ashtanga Vinyasa course.
Date Time Workshop

Sunday, March 26

15:00-17:00

Rooting the Lotus to Blossom - (inscription)

In this workshop, we work on understanding the interrelatedness between pelvis and legs, in order to create more space in the hip joint and free its range of movement. We will offer series of routines and hip openers to explore this topic, and will specifically work on safe and effective preparation for padmasana (lotus).

Exceptionally for this workshop, students can come from any yoga tradition, not just Ashtanga Vinyasa, but like all these programs, it is not suitable for complete beginners.

Sunday, May 21 15:00-17:00

Unfolding the Twists - (visit event)

Students often find the few twists in Ashtanga Vinyasa series very challenging. In this class, we work with an adapted sequence offering more gentle spinal twists, to build an understanding of how different parts of the spine move, and what role bandhas and ujjayi have in creating safe and effective spinal movement. We then apply this knowledge to the existing twists within the Ashtanga Vinyasa series.

Sunday, July 2 15:00-17:00

Tristana - the Unity of Mind, Body and Breath (visit event)

"Tristana - the Unity of Mind, Body and Breath" covers the role that vinyasa count, dristi, ujjayi breath, and bandhas play when interlaced together in order to turn the focus toward the inner space.

Cancellation policy

March 26: "Rooting the Lotus to Blossom" Registration

Style: Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga vinyasa is a hatha yoga practice transmitted to Pattabhi Jois from the great yoga master Krishnamacharya. It is for students seeking an invigorating approach that purifies, stimulates and energizes. It consists of postures practiced in a fluid rhythm with a concentrated breath, steady gaze, and internal contractions to direct vital energy. Due to the dynamic nature of this practice, one feels completely energized and purified in each cell of the body and also in the mind. Go to the Ashtanga yoga page.
