Style: Sivananda Yoga

Sivananda Yoga is the style of hatha yoga within the lineage of Sivananda Saraswati. It is for the student seeking inner tranquility and centeredness. In a Sivananda class, we start with conscious breathing exercises to tune inward then the sun salutation, a cardio-vascular exercise, to warm up. This is followed by 12 core postures to channel and concentrate vital energy. A guided relaxation is done at the end and brings about the overall sense of harmony and well-being one feels after class. Regardless of whether a student comes into class tired or stressed, the balanced nature of the Sivananda sequence renders the student calm and lucid. Go to the Sivananda yoga page.

Rui started yoga in the beginning of 2010. Harmony, Live, Grounded were the words she could put on feelings after the very first class. Yoga became a part of her life. By 2012, she completed a TTC (Teachers Training Course) at a Canadian Sivananda ashram where she became a full-time yoga instructor. She loves sharing her experience with whoever comes to her class, grateful hearing students sharing their progress/feelings on the postures, meditation or other spiritual paths. She has recently attended training on Kids Yoga aiming to help the new generation to live better, live healthier, and most of all live with consciousness. Go to Rui's page.
